Racing

BBYC members have many options throughout the year to enjoy the thrill of yacht racing.

Saturday Racing

New crew are welcome to join us for Saturday afternoon racing on Botany Bay. Division 2 is for those who are a little more competative, or those preferring a cruisy approach can enter divison 1, with a shorter course.

Courses can include Olympic triangle course, sprints series or transits. Sprint are a windward / leeward course, generally with two races per afternoon. The transit series uses the fixed marks the Club has in Botany Bay to do a lap of the bay, starting and finishing in front of the Club.

Spring, summer and autumn start at 13:30.

Winter races start at 13:00.

Please complete a race entry form and equipment audit. Pick up your copy of the BBYC Blue Book for details of the racing calendar and courses.

Twilight Series - from October

The best way to start the weekend! Friday twilight races are sailed in Kogarah Bay and Georges River over various courses. All welcome - its free to try twilights. Please come down to the Club at least an hour before the race start to be matched with a skipper.

Twilights are a great way to get into competative sailing in the sheltered waters of Kogarah Bay. All starts and finishes are in front of the Club with a great view of the action for 'armchair' sailors ashore as well as a spectacular view of the sunset.

Races start at 18:00 October, 18:30 November to February and 18:00 in March.

Special Races

Special races currently on the club's calendar:
- Commodore's Cup
- Ladies Day

Equipment Audit

All competing yachts must have a current equipment audit to at least Category 7.

The Club has a number of equipment auditors that can check your equipment. Please complete the form and contact Brian Talbot, Terry Wakefield or Warren Browne

Races may be postponed due to adverse weather. Notice of cancellation will be displayed in the club on race day and on our Facebook page, whenever possible.

Come along and enjoy a great day sailing!
