The BBYC fleet will depart the Club approx 11am on Sat 31 Oct. Tony’s family will be sailing on Wayfarer V.

All racing & cruising vessels will sail past Wayfarer V, followed by an ash scattering ceremony.

The bay race is expected to commence at 13:00. All yachts will display a length of black ribbon as a mark of respect. Please monitor vhf channel 77 on the day.

Weather Wednesday! Hope the waves on the ocean don’t get this big!

They look like ocean waves about to break on shore but this rare phenomenon is known as Kelvin-Helmholtz clouds.

Also known as billow clouds, Kelvin-Helmholtz clouds form due to lighter, warmer air lying over denser, cooler air forming two layers. The different wind speeds in each layer cause wave-like patterns at the boundaries.

The new Pride of the Fleet has arrived!

Dubbed the ‘Super Boat’ and dedicated to the people of NSW by David Elliott, Minister Police and Emergency Services this week.

Powered by three, 325 horse power engines, it has the capacity to travel at speeds of up to 47kts and will soon be operational for Marine Rescue Botany Port Hacking.

It’s the first of three new Marine Rescue vessels that will be delivered this years as part of a $2.4M investment in boating safety for NSW.

On the first weekend this years boating season 142 incidents were reported with 420 rescues effected state wide.

“It brings Marine Rescue into the next generation” said Minister Elliott.

“In the event the unavoidable happens its nice to know we have this sort of capacity for marine rescue missions”
